Hello TSN partners!

My name is Pureun Kim, I am excited to share my journey and aspirations as I look forward to joining the TSN network. I'm so glad I got the opportunity to receive support in my transfer application process. I am a full-time Northern Virginia Community College student, balancing my academic pursuits with a 35-hour work week. This effort is part of my commitment to support financing my education at my dream school for the next two years, a goal of my life I've been passionately working towards without imposing a financial burden on my parents.

As a low-income immigrant and first-generation college student, even the thought of attending a prestigious university fills me with immense pride for myself and my family. It is a dream come true, especially for my mom, who left everything in her home country and moved here to support my education and my life in the US (Just received my green card after 11 years in the US with my mom's sacrifices). Despite the demanding work and studying schedule, I remain actively engaged in extracurricular activities, particularly those that allow me to give back to the community.

One of my favorite roles I want to share with you guys is serving as the president of a non-profit organization offering free English and Korean tutoring to local residents. This position allows me to indulge in my love for helping others and fosters a sense of community and cultural exchange. Furthermore, I am the founder and president of a school club dedicated to assisting future transfer students at our community college, guiding them through their academic journey with support and advice.

My leadership experience extends beyond these roles; I have had various other positions and initiatives, including internships and volunteer services. I am eager to dive deeper into these experiences sharing insights with the TSN community.
