The Transfer Scholar Journey
As a Transfer Scholar, you are part of a network of high-achieving community college students from across the country receiving dedicated support and guidance throughout your transfer journey. We’re there for you until when you transfer to a four-year college. What happens in the process?
STEP 1
Receive Your Nomination to the Transfer Scholars Network
Students receive an invitation to join the Transfer Scholars Network from senior leaders at their community college based on eligibility criteria that include:
- Demonstrated academic achievement (including participation in Honors courses)
- Transfer readiness
- Intent to complete an associate's degree
- Financial need (an adjusted gross income not exceeding $100,000)
- Diverse experiences (professional, personal, academic, and/or service-related accomplishments)
- Postsecondary status (first-time enrollment at a four-year college or university)
Your nomination letter will include details on how to submit an application to join the Transfer Scholars Network.
STEP 2
Join the Transfer Scholars Network
Once you’re nominated, you’ll indicate your interest in learning more about TSN and gain access to our robust resource hub and exclusive information sessions with TSN four-year partners.
After that point, you'll complete a simple, 30-minute application. In the application, we’ll ask you to share details about your academic qualifications, your experience with the transfer process so far, and any other leadership, service, extracurricular, and personal experiences that may be relevant.
You can select as many TSN four-year partners that interest you.
STEP 3
Engage with the Transfer Scholars Network
In the fall after you apply to the Transfer Scholars Network, admissions representatives from the four-year partners you indicated an interest in will reach out. You can ask them any questions you have about transfer admissions, financial aid, and the transfer student experience at their school. They are there to provide you with guidance as you navigate the application process!
If you want to learn more, you can join webinars with transfer
admissions leaders from our four-year partners. You’ll also have access to:
- Informational videos from each four-year partner about the transfer student experience
- Four-year partner profiles, including admissions, academic, financial, extra-curricular, and postgraduate information
- Recordings of topic-based webinars

STEP 4
Apply to TSN partner institutions
As you engage with four-year colleges and universities, make sure to note their fall admissions and financial aid application deadlines. Work with the admissions representatives at the institutions you’re interested in to prepare the materials you’ll need to be competitive in the admission process!
