If you’d like, share any extracurricular activities, professional details, or personal experiences you would like TSN partners to know about you. Responses can be as brief or long as you’d like.

My junior year of high school was when COVID-19 started, and it greatly affected me. The summer before this year my father had died due to a combination of dementia and strokes, so I was already having some difficulty in school because of that, but when COVID hit and everything switched to virtual, so suddenly I had a hard time adapting to it. It was because of that I would end up switching to homeschooling and taking the GED for high school equivalency. Once I took the GED, I gave up on going to any four-year college directly, so I decided I would go to NOVA and get my associates. Everyone had told me that most 4 years would require a transcript from high school, which I also did not have due to the chaos of COVID. Once I got to NOVA, I started having a much better time educationally. My first semester, I had an English professor who boosted my confidence immensely and helped me talk to the NOVA librarian about working for the library. Because of that class, I was able to intern at the NOVA library and still am interning there. It was able to make me realize that I wanted to be a librarian, but I first need an undergraduate degree before I can get a master's in library science. I also found out how much I love sociology as a study and thankfully master’s in library science programs have no specific requirements on what subject an undergraduate degree needs to be in. I have been able to do so many things within this internship, such as collection development in relation to increasing our library's collection focused on autism in more diverse populations as well as queer history and literature.

Additional Question & Consent
What other resources can the Transfer Scholars Network provide to further support your transfer journey and educational goals?

I would love to be able to find out more about accommodation services at the universities you are connected to. I am autistic and while I am considered high-functioning/low support; it is still important to me to be able to understand how disability services work at the different schools.
