If you’d like, share any extracurricular activities, professional details, or personal experiences you would like TSN partners to know about you. Responses can be as brief or long as you’d like. | Dear Scholarship Management Team,
Firstly, about myself. My name is Dongbo Mu who is knitted in my mother’s womb in China by the creator. I was raised and grew up in a very ordinary family. I am a human who likes running in daily life with brown eyes, black hair, and yellow skin. The country I am from is a Communist country named China, where there is a Dictator called Xi Jinping. I don’t feel hypercritical to love any human, and I am open to any questions.
My activities in New York. I have been in New York for 2 years to seek freedom and religious asylum. I have been baptized for more than 1 year in an Anglican Church named Saint George Episcopal Church Flushing. My part-time job is cleaning the church every Friday for eight hours, and my wage is paid directly by the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island. I have been a New York Cares volunteer for one year in 2022, and I received two awards from the Non-profit Organization since I provided service for more than 100 hours in 2022. One is the “Mayoral Service Recognition Award” which was issued by our city Mayor Eric Adams, and the other one is the “Presidential Volunteer Service Award”, issued by the President of New York Cares. The reason I talk about the activities is not to prove to anyone that I am a real New Yorker, I just want you to know my values of how I see myself, and how I see the world.
My hobbies in sports. I like running a lot, usually, I run 2-4 times per week and exactly four miles per time. I participated in a Marathon race in New York City. I ran 13.1 miles in the game of United Airlines NYC Half 2022 within 2 hours and 15 minutes, and I am extremely proud of myself. In my daily life, I also like doing other exercises, for instance, Push-ups, and Plank.
My study and career goal. For my first semester, I earned 16 credits, and my GPA score is 3.943. My goal is to be a Mathematics teacher in High School, that’s why I chose the major in Mathematics Secondary Education. I got an A with a score of 105.3% for Precalculus. I read a news that American students’ math score in high school is decreasing year by year. They need me, and I also need the opportunity to achieve my personal dream.
In a nutshell, I consider myself a dreamer, a dreamer who never gives up, and I really hope it’s the scholarship will release the pressure caused by my financial crisis so that I can devote all my energy into learning.
