Additional Information
If you’d like, share any extracurricular activities, professional details, or personal experiences you would like TSN partners to know about you. Responses can be as brief or long as you’d like.

I graduated high school in 2020 and had a rough transition into university studies. I was first enrolled in the University of Cincinnati, but it did not work out last minute because there was not enough financial aid for me to attend. I then went to Brigham Young University (Provo) on campus from 2021-2022 but it was not the university for me. I loved attending a university on campus but I knew BYU was not the right fit. I transferred to Northern Virginia Community College in 2022. I do not regret transferring to NOVA and I enjoy studying here.

I am a first generation college student and found it difficult navigating university but I learned more after facing several setbacks. My parents were unable to guide me through college since they never attended any school in the United States but they are great supporters on me getting a higher education. My parents immigrated from Mexico and El Salvador and both did not finish high school, so I am very determined to earn a college degree.

I am studying information technology as a part time student in online classes. Studying online works better with my full time work schedule, but I hope to return studying full time on campus. The program is great and I am learning plenty of things about computers. It has already become helpful, especially when I am learning more about how my laptop works or when my coworkers ask me how to complete a task on the computer.

I work full time in retail, 40 hours a week, and I recently started a new job as a keyholder at a clothing retail store. I am responsible for helping to open and close the store along with other duties. Before that, I was the stock coordinator at another clothing retail store for over a year. I was responsible for maintaining and running the stock room with stock associates. The upcoming holiday season is sure to make my job hectic over the next two months but I find satisfaction in helping customers find what they need.

During my free time I enjoy reading fiction books, playing video games, and spending time together with friends and family. I love going to Korean barbeque restaurants with them! Sometimes I will draw but I am not that good at it (yet). I like writing stories as well and prefer writing with pen and paper rather than with a computer despite me studying information technology. It does take longer to write on paper and it can get frustrating when my mechanical pencil runs out of lead but it gets my brain thinking!
